The Great Colchester Photoshoot
Make History on October 21st
Colchester 24 is inviting everyone to photograph themselves for a 21st century “Time Capsule”
From Noon on Friday 21st October to Noon on Saturday 22nd this year everyone is asked to take photographs of Colchester, a time capsule of a thousand images for future generations.
One of the best ways you can take part is to photograph yourself, your family, your home, your workplace.
Photographs of Colchester High Street will interest future generations, but will be easy to come by, as they always have been. Hundreds of photos of the High Street, or the Castle, from 1860 to the present day, exist. But photos of people about their work, or in their houses, or surrounded by their possessions are very, very few. Today digital cameras make all that easy.
So plan now for October 21st / 22nd. Get a neighbour to photo your family in the home; arrange to take photos of your work; keyboarding, telephoning, waiting for the London train, serving in your shop; the list is endless.
If you work at the University, the Garrison or the Hospitals, offer to help there, as these Big Three institutions are producing their own set of photos for the Archive. Click on the Colchester 24 Logo below to visit the main Colchester 24 website for details.
All the images will be stored on computer. The best photos will be enlarged and printed and will appear in Exhibitions over the next year. If you want to take part click on the Logo to visit the website www.colchester24.org, and sign up.
