The Society was formed some 60 years ago to promote and encourage interest in the study and application of photography.

This is achieved by a varied programme of weekly meetings, including visits from top speakers, who present their work and discuss techniques.  There are also practical demonstrations, competitions, discussions and encouragement between members.

From time to time workshops are provided to assist the development of photographers, with particular attention being given to Adobe Photoshop. Most of the current membership has now embraced the digital medium.

The Society’s exhibitions provide an opportunity for members to display their work.   In addition periodic exchange visits are enjoyed with our fellow photographers from Fotofreunde Wetzlar and an inter-club projected image competition has recently been established.  The two societies have also enjoyed joint visits to France, Italy, Berlin and Norfolk in recent years.

The Society meets on Tuesdays at 7.30 pm between September and May at Christ Church, Ireton Road  (off Maldon Road), Colchester CO3 3AT.

Membership is open to all photographers.

New members and guests are always assured of a warm welcome.
